Only a few managers have a youthscout. Reason is that the costs of having a youthscout are not related to what you get back for it.
But to get enough good riders for the future, we need more young talented riders. I think it would be more attractive to have a youthscout if you get 5 extra training spots for pulls your scout found. So teams with a youth scout have 25 + 5 training spots.
Some rules could be:
- if you fire the youthscout, you immediately lose the trainingspots - the 5 spots are only for cyclists which are found by your own scout, not for cyclist that you have bought - the 5 spots are only for cyclists that are maximum 21 years old. As soon as they become 22, they can only be trained in the "normal" spots
This has clearly the advantage of 5 extra training spots, but also more trained young cyclists for the game. Teams with a youthscout can definately get more money for trained 20 year olds.
What can be argued about is if the maximum age of a pull should be 19.
The wage of a youthscout should stay the way it is, so nobody can afford a super trainer, a super youthscout and expensive cyclists. It should be that every manager has to make choices.
In my opinion a youthscout belongs to the game. Now it is, roughly, a waste of money.
I really would like to know how other managers think about this.

No. Too complicated. And besides: The market will regulate itself.
Perhaps it could be argued that youth scouts should only find cyclists of 18 or 19.
But in general: Once that the few 18 year-olds that are offered regularly salvage more than 100000 $ other managers will start to invest in a youth scout again.

very good suggestion Ab Normaal
I think users who don't like your suggestion don't have scout / don't want scout.
In the market we dont find 18-20y cyclists now. With your idea the market will raise.

I think that is a suberb idea too. This is a matter that need some adjust and something new.
@ Ab Normaal trie to creat a poll here for us to have a way to see if is a good suggestion or not, because some manager read but don't express his oppinion.

But people, just reply and say: A. Great idea B. Good idea, but it needs adjustment C. Bad idea D. Very bad idea, but some aspects of it are worth considering Why do I say so? The intervention into the game mechanics is too big. With this implementation as suggested all those managers who already have a youth scout win win win. This would steal a lot of those managers who either fired their youthscout or willingly never hired one or who invested lots of transfer money into 18 yo cyclists this season. I say it again: Market mechanics will solve this non-problem without any further adjustment.

Not a bad idea, but as a programmer it feels pretty complicated.
Before we do that, I'd say the first step is to change the pulls so they are ALL 18 and 19 year olds. I believe we already remove 18 and 19 year old cyclists from teams that are abandoned, so by making sure all pulls fit in that "scarcity space", it increases the value.
I'd say if we do implement the extra training, the cutoff for those training spots should be 19 rather then 21.
It's not a bad idea, but I'm not sure just changing the youth pulls to all 18 and 19 year olds isn't enough. That would be very simple where the proposed change might not be.

I agree that youth scouts in the game needs looking at - I made a suggestion not too long ago: peloton.proboards.com/thread/8292/season-6-suggestionsI would like to see all teams with a youth scout, but to do it in a way to give new/poor teams a chance to progress to league 1 in seasons to come if they are skilled enough - so I would vote for the choice to be on quality/frequency of new riders (low fixed youth scout wage and 40 points to spread across the 3 youth scout skills) rather than between wages of trainer vs. wages of youth scout. I agree on scouts pulling only the youngest riders. I like your idea of 5 training spots for "home grown" young riders.

(very) good idea In hattrick (football manager) there is solution like this but little difference, which can be (easy?) implemented into peloton. This solution has one advance - not changes what WAS but changes only FUTURE. For peloton im,plementation of hattrick young scholl can be made in such steps: a)every of us can choose old system and new. If old - he play like today b) Who choose new solution, has new meber of staff - young school manager - in place of young scout. c) young school manager is like scout and trainer in one: he can search new cyclist (like scout does now) and train them LIke trener. bUT HE CAN TRAIN ONLY YOUNGEST CYCLISTS. d) youth cyclist are in age 15-16 (14-16?) and in age 17 they can be PROMOTED to normal team e) there are another races for youngest cyclist ONLY. In hattrick there are leagues for ONLY youngest. All leagues are in ONE division (no promotions). In hattrick everyone can create own leagu and ask other to play - every one MUST choose a league for be able to train. So it should be like with friendship races. f) youngest cyclist has no salary and no they don't win money - the only financial aspect of young school is salary for young team manager.
In peloton it can be for instance like: a) you choose new system and fire old young scout - IF YOU WANT b) if you have choosen new system - there is no scout but young manager . You have for instance 5 young cyclist at start c) young cyclist can race only in special races for youngest util he is promoted to senior. In youth team he has no salary and not win any money. It should be 1 or 2 races every week for youngest d) ONLY CYCLIST WHO WAS IN RACE LAST WEEK CAN BE TRAINED - so you have possiblity to train max. 10 cyclist every week! e) in races cyclist learn LS, balance....(may be faster than senior) f) in season in which younger is 17 you have to choose or to promote him to senior or to get him off. You can either promote younger or search new one in every week
It is for discussion if it should be more random - and you can like now have youth manager with ability to finding good cyclists and training is more important or it should be rather like in senior's team - you have to have very good youth manager but he can easy find weak cyclist (which after 17 will be very very poor) In my opinion more interesting it will be solution in which every of us can have young cyclist (may be very poor) - it will be no situation in future that there are NOT new young - in worse case it will be a lot of 1-2-1-1-1 - like cyclist which now are with no value. In my opinion it should be made like in real life - it is a lot of clubs which can train young cyclist and this is less expencive than good senior club - but a lot of youngest are with no value for seniors. So it should be nearly no difference between clubs from firs division and fifth - the nearly only should be time of playing. Salary of young manager should be not very high for making weak and medium quality 17 yrs players.
Uff I hope it is not too complicated. Shortly I CAN SAY YEEEEEES!!! for idea of young school but in my opinion it should be separated from senior school. I proposed one way to do it but if smbd will show another way - it will be good, too.

My vote is B
- scout only pulls 18 years old (not 19) - 5 extra training positions - extra training facilities for training steering and .. forgot the other name - wages youthscout just a little lower
