Too bad Devred from Rats didn't want to play along today, beating Lestrade in the sprint uphill. 226 points behind, 3 races to go, including one u21 race (shit). Still easy, right On the upside, I think this has been the smallest gap in months. Maybe I should have trained fitness at one point after all (still principally against that though).

I am sorry to spoil the party but tomorrow is going to be my day I hope I have been working in a new Tony Martin so I want results tomorrow

As long as he is in the same form as Tony at the World Championships that's fine My best guy is Buscan, but I don't expect too much. His TT and Flat are very decent, but Hill, Mountain and Downhill are shit (read 0), so tomorrow's race is not really made for him.

@ EG and Eboese : In dutch we have a saying "Als 2 honden vechten om een been ... loopt de 3e er mee heen"* , congratz to Slayer , I told you would pass me before the season ends * "when 2 dogs fight for a bone ... a third walks away with it"

Haha, I didn't even have the illusion I could fight for this bone though. I'm actually pleasantly surprised by Buscan and Chalifoux, seems luck is on my side so far this week (I mean, only look at the small difference with 3 and 4 today). Impressive time trail by Okkersen, looks like he's the real Tony Martin 146 points now... that's really much closer than I ever imagined it to be prior to these races. Do you think Franconia is getting a bit nervous already ? I guess not with Veland, Lamego and Tappa still lined up for the next races. There's not too much I can put against that. I think my best guy left is Vidal, the others at 100% just lack the ability to do an above average climb.

Don't you have anybody on 95% fitness or so? Veland, Tappa and Lamego aren't mountain riders either. Veland has no chance in the last two races.
Lamego for tomorrow is probably his best pick.
If you get the difference under the 100 points, then it is sad to say, but then Franconia won it on fitness. Exactly like I dit the year before.
We have guys that hardly improve on training with their high skills.
If a few riders miss 2 trainings per season due to fitness training, they don't miss a lot.

Oh, I have loads of guys on 100%, that's not the issue at all. Just not the guys who could win one of these races (also not on 90 or 95%). Vidal is my best pick, but he's not really a regular winner. And yes, fitness does seem to have done the trick in that case! Guess I need to rethink my strategy...

Fitness is an advantage but I never see no one winning using fitness agains Equipe à Grande Vitesse.
So having strong riders for the differente terrains and good tactics work.

Helder, I disagree. In EGV's time, alle riders were increasing rapidly through training. Nowadays, the best riders are all trained in the skills with bad FA until 7 and have now high skill in the good FA and sprint and TT
It will take approx 10 weeks to increase 1 point. So, make that 12 in stead of ten and use that extra fitness for GC or other jerseys in big tours, and perhaps in a small tour and that will gain you a lot of points. I am the living proove of it last season.
And I won the GC in this Vuelta because I trained fitness. Otherwise Slayer would have won.

Arno, I know you won using fitness but like we see this season if Eboese had better riders for certain type of terrain he could have done better without using fitness.
I know fitness is an advantage but with a strong team that wouldn't be needed.

Eboese has a strong team. It is impossible to have the best riders on all terrains in one team. Using fitness carefully is a weapon.

Besides the fact that we were indeed at a different stage in the game back then, taking EGV as the standard is hardly fair, is it. That team was in a league of it's own, nobody came even close. I agree with Ab that it's pretty much impossible to excel on all terrains. My team was centered around flat stages when we restarted this game and that's still were my main strength lies. Seeing the gap with the teams below Franconia and myself I think my team did pretty well this season. When things end this close it's always going to about details. In this case fitness played an important part, as well as the week where we suddenly had 2 week updates and a lot of Franconia's main riders were able to compete two weeks in a row and grab a lot of points. And maybe if I had treated my EGV climbers a bit better early on in the game they wouldn't have a shit mood now and I would actually grab a bit of points in the mountain stages About today, 8 points closer, that's not enough . Vidal did quite well and beat Lamego, but to keep it exciting he should have won today. Impressive show by Picault though and the battle for places 4 to 6 is really close! I don't expect too much for tomorrow, I burned up all my good riders. Vidal would also be able to do a decent result in this stage, but he gave it all today (and there's too much downhill at the end of the stage!) Good luck for the final race of the season, gents. It's been a nice season again.

It was nice to be in Div 1 but very difficult to stay. Even I wasn't a strong adversary I did my best with my riders.
Next time I will try to get here more stronger.
