Damn! I always try to look up at the division standings, but the gap with ALESANA is now becoming huge... And after 1 Tour de Yorkshire a stage win and all jerseys the gap between SpartaB and ALESANA suddenly is the other way around now. Bosko on 4 - Chakra on 5. What an effort of Ottone Maffei. He showed us where his talents are and used them in his advantage. Nice win. Glad to still be 2nd in GC TdY. Now it's going to be puzzling for the Giro. I've got some cyclists in it just for their contract. So no very high expectations. Only TJ, PJ and MJ.

Well... I certainly didn't see that one coming! I was really lucky not a single team had picked a guy for stage 3 (apart from Quiller Boys, but Couck is still to young). Impressed by Maciel (Tossboom) who finished only 4s from top 5 in GC at the age of 25... And Duarte (JOOP Cycling Team) made the podium of todays race at the age of 24. Some nice talents we have here! The coming days I will have to do with a lot less... I think I'm going to start the Giro with 3 youngsters. Good luck to all!

I had a scout of other lineups and it seems like there's a lot of young cyclists for a big tour. I've got Strauss + my best 3 mountain riders. I imagine Rios will win the yellow jersey pretty easily in the end, I'll be spreading going for stages over my 4 riders and GIK maybe won't so much.
Prediction: Strauss Green jersey and Rios the other two? If my tour goes really well I might end up with 4 riders in the top 10 GC.

Hope for a stage win in the Giro. Top 15 in GC with at least 1 cyclist. Participating in PJ. No youngsters in my team. Taking it easy and wait for your tactics. Defense driving!
Good Luck!

well, reading Punkska's post now, and looking at the differences after today's stage, I think we have our winner. If I knew this before (Strauss not going for GC), I might have used another tactic for this race. Winning this giro would be wishful thinking, but it would change my tactics completely. Nevertheless Gik will probably win the TTT also, so victory will be close.
Anyway happy with this stage win, at least something earned in this tour:-)

Hi angelogik Cool to see you in the conversation. Much respect for you and your team. We have competed against eachother so often and it looks like you are on the better hand this season. Giro is a total disaster so far (Van Groen injured a few days before Grande Partenza, but I needed his LS), Beaupr loses 27 minutes in stage 1 and TTT will be lousy without Van Groen. But worse than Giro was Yorkshire. I expected podium and a win in Youngster jersey. But none of it.

I was afraid my Giro would be boring because of my 3 youngsters. After 3 races, I already lost 2 of them and the 1 remaining finds himself at position 12. I'm afraid it will be a comatic Giro now.
Luckily there's also a small tour to earn some points... Today's sprintrace, I expect the excellent flatters to end in front: Vindevogel (Headcase Pro Cycling) and Szekely (Arsenal '98). Maybe Craddon (WC VroOom) to fill the podium?

Today the hilly one: Perdijk, Kreanga, Renuart or Perot?

Today the hilly one: Perdijk, Kreanga, Renuart or Perot? I was hoping Delarue could go for his first pro win too. He was planned to go for stages in the Giro, but than I saw Strauss and Grilo on the startlist and I changed plans. Was slightly hoping there weren't much other hill-lovers.

You are right, I missed Delarue in my prono. Profile looks like Amstel Gold Race, so he has potential. Good luck!

You are right, I missed Delarue in my prono. Profile looks like Amstel Gold Race, so he has potential. Good luck! It was a very close call with 4 cyclists who were very compairable to each other on the hilly parts. Perdijk maybe a tiny bit less, but he always got in front because of his good SP skill. Delarue won because his MO skill was a bit better than his opponents. Today a strange Girostage. I assume all the GC contenders will attack at 75%. But who will win the stage? The winner will have to do good on steep 15% mountains as well as on the flat.

Well done. The mountainous parts were too much for Perot. Unfortunately Perot couldn't defend Vindevogels points jersey against Perdijk. Maybe Baez or Renuart can go for that in the final stage where another 20 points lie ahead. Paun and Raviart are going to make a shot at Youngster Jersey in the final stage. I wasn't expecting Paun to be so close. Brankvist has 3 minutes, but Paun is still fresh. I like California more than Italia...

Third in the stage AND overall victory for Renuart in the Tour of California. Happy with that result!!!
