Today's stage was the goal for Cavaco. He attacked 3 times, leaving other attack possibles for the young Palmaerts. Palmaerts ended 00:22:55 but fell once and had one flat tire. To bad Cavaco on podium for now, we'll see what he can do tomorow. @mike, I don't really get it. Are you planning to use Cavaco in week 5 (week of the Classics)? I think Cavaco could have won Time and Points Jersey for sure if you had used 20% effort extra? Yang (Bolt Thrower) did the opposite and really gave all he had, so we won't be seeing him the coming weeks... you're probably right, and I should have. But he stayed on podium and even jumped a spot, so that's ok for me. Amstel Gold or La Fleche Wallonne will be his next race, but he'll be in the Giro also so no wins there, but he'll get some points. Giro is not going to be easy because next week I'm going to have to negotiate contract with him. And I'm going to kill his mood. Otherwise he'll be asking to much. 50K now will be..; ?? I wish I knew how to negotiate better. Congratz to the chinese guy for winning Tireno.

Well, I had planned to end Yang with 40% fitness (75% for stage 1, 80% for stage 2 and 100% for stage 3). But when I saw the results of the first stage it became obvious that 80% for stage 2 would bring him to nowhere so I switched to 100% for the 2nd stage and have been vastly disappointed when it only brought him a 4th rank.
But wait ... he indeed had some lead in the GC after stage 2! So I decided to give him 100% again for stage 3 and see how far it will go. Yeah, that was lucky indeed that the other GC contenders decided to spare some of their fitness.

Stage 2 was clearly the key stage. Abreu Sved fitness in Stage 1. So he could get the most out of stage 2. Second place in stage 2 led to a 4th place in GC. I'm thrilled by that result!

For me personally the first stage was the deciding factor not to go for the GC with my boys. Too many flat and hill. That Made me able to use them again in the Giro and still get a decent result in GC (read prizemoney) But i have to agree that i would have played cavaco for the GC as well. I dont think he is made for the classics. And you can only set him at 85 or he has to begin the giro at lower fitness. Not that this is a problem, did the same last season in the vuelta, but still... weird. Oh well, you are the manager:-)
Hoped for a stage win, was close to it, but there are better ones. I have to admit that my key guys are not strong enough anymore.

Tomorrow i will try too win the stage. I'm pretty sure Dodos (WC VroOom) has the same plan. I'm letting Quintal see how close he can get, but because of his lack of downhill skill, the race might be over after 4 parts. Don't now if Brassard (Melres United) has plans? Nice result of Palmaerts indeed yesterday, but what to say about Sabrosa (Melres United), nice one! Brassard did what he could and was really nice to see him in 3rd with only 1.24min. Abut Sabrosa is my new mountain star, but today I didn't attack in the 1st point and he almoust lose the jersey

Snoek is very disappointed with his 4th place in La Primavera. Now the focus on the mountain/hill spring classics

I have some mixed feelings about this weekend. Saturday: Agafitei came close to victory, but the gap he created on the last mountain just wasn't big enough. On the other hand, I can live with it because it wouldn't have been fair to win a downhill race with skill DO 1. Sunday: I felt Thort was the strongest on the flat parts, but in the middle of the race, Maffei was 2 minutes in front of him so I already could smell the victory. Thort however managed to come back and made a decisive attack at the last downhill part. So certainly a deserved win for him!

Some Classics in Flanders coming up, starting with E3 prijs today. I hope Reschke can go for top 5, but at 39 he isn't what he used to be anymore. If he disappoints, it might be his last race for SpartaB... (Putting a little pressure on him) My favourites for victory: Roeleveld (Cycling Joop Zoetemelk), Fulwood (SeMTeX), Granatiero (KS Crusaders). Vindevogel (Headcase Pro Cycling) is rather a sprinter. Don't know if he can make the finish in the front group?

Vindevogel won the bunch sprint. Future star Dumeez was in there as well and finished 15th overall at only 75% effort. Ahnert in second place was more than I expected. He is paying out all the investments I did in him for some seasons now. He just signed a 75 week contract so we'll be seeing a lot of him.
In Milan - San Remo I made a big mistake. I picked Delanoy to go as frontman, but for some reason I selected the already worn out Perot, who doesn't have a chance in the flat. So no points this weekend. Glad I could make it up with 66 points today!
