Planned changes for the next season (7/28/2007)
During the next season, a couple of important changes will be implemented (some will take affect from day 1, others will be announced later):
1- Intermediate / finish sprints: The positions and amount of green jersey/mountain jersey sprints per race and per tour will be more in balance with the race/tour outline. Tours with a lot of flat will contain more green sprints, tours with a lot of mountain will contain more mountainsprints and vica versa.
Also the way sprinting works will be changed. Not only the sprintskill will be taken into account, also the skill of the terrain on which the sprint is held, will be of importance.
As a consequence, the finish sprint will also be held on the terrain on which the race ends and will be 10% of the total distance of the race (instead of 25% of the flat distance).
2- New sponsorshipdeals: the sponsors will propose contracts (sign money and weekly money) based on the division you are in and the position you take in this division.
In short, with these new contracts the 2 promoted teams out of a division will receive more or less the same conditions of a respectivily 7-8th ranked team and 10-12th ranked team of the higher division. The 3rd (and sometimes 4th) ranked teams will get better contracts than some relegated teams.
New teams will be given a default one-seasonal sponsorship based on the 11th position in the division (to avoid advantages on the random position they will start at)
Note: Every sponsordeal will be reset at the beginning of the new season to allow everyone to participate in the new sponsorshipdeal
3- Training intensity: The training intensity, i.e. the speed at which a cyclist trains, will drop with each skillpoint. So the higher his skill becomes, the more difficult it will be to improve in this skill.
Just like in real life when you start training for cycling, the first year your skill in f.i. sprint will increase very rapidly, but to become a topsprinter you will have train harder and longer.
4- Minimum price money: the minimum price money of a race (now equal to the amount of 20 participating cyclists) will be removed. The maximum price money (when at least 70 cyclists participate) and the number of bots that will participate will be kept, however.
5- Individual cyclist points: he points earned by each cyclist for your team will no longer be reset during the offseason, but will be kept over the seasons until transfered to another team. This will mean that these points will have an influence in contract negotiations with that cyclist (bonusses, wanted wage,...).
In addition, the points earned in the final standings of the green jersey or the mountain jersey will be added to the individual points of that cyclist.
6- Trainer / Scout skill drops: When a trainer/scout is more than 2 seasons in your team (i.e. from the 3rd season onwards), his highest skill will degrade to the half of its value. If the trainer/scout has multiple skills with the same highest value, a skill will be randomly chosen among these skills.
Trainer example : a 20-0-0-0-20-0-20 (20 flat, sprint and fitness) will degrade (after his second season) 50% in either flat, sprint or fitness. Let's say in sprint : 20-0-0-0-10-0-20. One season later, either flat or fitness is halved (as these are his highest values), the season after that the third skill is halved and the trainer will be a 10-0-0-0-10-0-10. One season later again one of these 3 skills is halved (randomly).
Note: In order not to jeopardize any long term plannings, the next 2 seasons there will be no trainer/scout skill drops. (i.e. it will look as if the trainer/scout has joined the club from next sesaon onwards).
