A rider loses fitness every day he races, which is quite normal. Isn't it also normal (in real life it also is) that a rider gains fitness (recovers) when he is not racing ? Example : First race of a tour : rider races @ 80% ==> he goes from 100 to 85. Second race is 2 days later but he still has 85% fitness when he starts, even though he has had 2 days to recover... I think it would be fair if he gains 5% every day he is not racing. Only an idea

This was suggested a long time ago. While I agree it makes sense and is realistic, I think the idea of cyclists recovering 20% fitness each Sunday evening adds a nice little tactical aspect to the game, especially with regards of planning tours and saving cyclists for their 'peak' of the season.
If this could somehow be combined with a daily +5% fitness, I wouldn't object to this.

how about a daily +5% but ONLY for days off?
So if we have 2 consecutive stages no fitness gain If we have day off it`s +5% /day for the 5 cyclists participating in the said tour
Also fitness gain for fitness trainers is kinda brutal ... +20% vs everyone not doing it is overkill especially in big Pro Tours.. given equal cyclists the fitness trainer will always win because she/he runs bigger risks. I have nothing against faster fitness gains between tours but nowhere in real cyclism you can see guys suddenly running at "110%" without being doped (Armstrong/Basso/Vinokurov etc)
