So a few days ago I was linked here from some MMORPG site; I decided I'd sign up. I've never really followed Professional Cycling, but this looked fun.
So I made my own team and set up my tactics for the next race and hired some coaches. I followed my progress in 3 races and came in the top ten in all of them.
However, when I went to log in today, I discovered my account gone. It said my e-mail address was not in use, and neither was my username. So I decided I'd register here to see if there was some sort of problem with the database; but, lo and behold, I discovered my team had gone bankrupt overnight. I had received an e-mail encouraging me to sign up again and retry. I was a bit angry; I hadn't done anything to drive my team to the ground, and the last time I had checked my bank it seemed like I had enough money.
No matter, a new tour was starting anyway, all I'd need to do is remake my team and redo my tactics and hope for continued success. But, it says my username is taken. And now I've realized Soup For One Cycling and OctaneHugo can never be used on this site again and I am left in the dust told to think of a new name and logo.
And why should I?
I enjoyed this game very much, but I shan't be thinking of coming back. Unless the other things I do start becoming perpetually dull, I don't think I'll be putting time into this site. I don't even receive as much as a warning to cut down on my spending, let alone realize by looking at my bank page I'm in the red. So now I must redo all of my work but I can't even use the name I've used for ages in just about every single online community/game I've signed up for in the past year.
This is the equivalent of account banning someone; their team can never be used again, they received no warning, but are invited to sign up for a new account so long it doesn't happen again (in this case, not go bankrupt...somehow).
You've made a good game here. But it didn't treat me well. I do imagine there are others who have gone through the same thing as I have and simply left; I suggest warning players they are losing money through in-game mail or e-mail or something similar. Or at least allowing players to sign up using the same name. I shouldn't have to make adjustments to my information just so I can go bankrupt again. I can't fix my errors because I don't know what I did.
In short, alas poor Hugo, I knew him well. [/misquote]
