Hello everyone! I wonder about the times that things are scheduled to happen in the game. It states that training takes place at 8pm on Sunday, and the races start at 1pm on their scheduled day. Is this 8pm and 1pm my time or GMT please? I live here in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. By the way: I only found this game yesterday and am happy I did. ;D My wife, son, and I watched the Tour de France over the past three weeks and we have become infected with a love for the sport. I look forward to learning more about the sport, and having a good laugh, by playing on here. Thanks to everyone that has posted something in the forums as I have been scouring them for information. Very useful! (Some not so useful...) Hmmm... I just went into my profile information in this forum and one of the things I was able to indicate was my time zone. Is this only for the forum, or will this set what my start times/game times are?

I think this is 8 PM GMT +1, if you look at the transfer you can see which hour it is. I believe it is GMT-8 for you? so this means that Training takes place at 11 AM Sunday and that races take place at 4 AM.
I hope this will help you.

Thank you very much for helping me out. Your explanation matches my suspicions.
The game-time says 18:53 and the time here in Vancouver is 9:53am. That is 8hrs difference so my training is 12pm Sundays and my races are at 5am. I think I made a mistake and said that daylight savings was active when, now that I think about it, it isn't active until the fall and winter months is it!? I wonder if I need to worry about correcting this?
Based on this information I shall need to set my team for my first race, (Seefeld > St. Anton am Arlberg), tonight and then when I wake up I shall find the results?

So I figured out my problem with the daylight savings thing. I was trying to save daylight, but nobody else was into it?!? (kind of like forgetting that water is solid below zero...lol)I scanned everywhere and found that in my profile I could turn it on and off. Lesson learned. Now when I look at the time here in Vancouver, it is 4:03pm. The game's clock is at 1:03, with seconds counting. The correct difference of 9 hours; meaning that my training update will take place at 11:00am on Sundays, and the races will start at 4:00am my time. Do I need to do anything during the races? Do we have any active participation? I am under the impression that it simulates the race and then we see the results. All of our fun/work is done in the preparation and organizing of the team. I ask because my intention is to set my team for their first race and then go to bed, (dreaming of spinning wheels... ;D). I then hope to rise in the morning to check the results. Will I be bitterly disappointed? Will I feel really impish?!? I would also like to take my hat off to Il Padrino, and all of you who are responsible for the game, (and, as I learned from reading some strings in the forum, have been doing so for a few years now. Kudos.) I only just found it the other night after my wife, son, and I finished watching our first Tour de France. We have been though-roughly wrapped up in the sport since attending the recent Tour of Gastown, here in Vancouver. This seems like a great way to have some fun and learn a bit about the sport. I have been having a good time reading the forum and found some good information in there. I have also scoured your Peloton Wiki and did so before making any movements with my team. Crazy Canucks have their first race in less than eight hours! Best make sure they're all sorted and in for their curfews. P.S. I figure I am going to wait a week, so that I can figure the game out a bit better , and then I am going to e mail some of my mates and tell them about the game; try and get them on too! I will check back in a bit.

... I have now figured out that Seefeld > St. Anton am Arlberg is a stage of the Deutschland Tour. So I already feel impish and I haven't even been to sleep yet! I guess I shall just be that much more prepared for the Crazy Canucks first race, the Clasica San Sebastian. wow! that's a profile.

So I go on, and on and on... I have re-read the Peloton Wiki and have a question please. Is it true that in the team time-trials your team is given the time of your slowest cyclist? Is this how it works in the real sport? I have read the Wiki twice now and I feel comfortably confidant about a bright future of the Crazy Canucks. I am just crunching the team numbers before making my rider selection for our debut.

The Wiki is a bit outdated on that subject, this season it has changed in the average time of al your cyclists, in real cycling the time of the 5th (out of 8 or 9) cyclist is taken into account for the team-time-trials. It is always nice to see someone so keen to play. The best of luck in your first races.

Thanks for the luck Schizm. That seems to be a better solution for the Team Time-Trials; much less depressing I would imagine. In real cycling then, does the team usually pick their T.T. specialist to go out 5th? Or is the team not in control of choosing who starts first and so on? Oh, and a thought; How many friends would I have to get into the game to start a Canadian Group/Category? Or am I better off just enjoying being in the U.K. Divisions?

In a team time trial every team starts as a group together and tries to keep atleast 5 cyclists together in the best group, so the best ones take larger turns and everyone tries to develop a tempo that suits the rest of the team. Because the time of the 5th cyclist who passes the finishline is the one that counts it makes no sense for cyclists to ride in front of the rest of the main group. Cyclists with a lesser talent or form and no G.C. ambitions try to keep up the pace in the first part of the race and just try to finish before the time limit.
To have a new country installed in between seasons you should try to get around 20 willing to participate in it. Be aware that some of the better managers of the smaller countries are complaining about the lack in competition after a while (some of them are even the only active team in their division).

Thanks again. The main reason I have started playing Peloton is to enjoy learning about the sport so I appreciate your explanations very much. With regard to getting Canada on the 'map', so-to-speak, I saw in a few discussions on the forum that exact theme; that countries with less users would have problems with growing a faithful group of users. Maybe someday. Before I logged on for the first time I scanned through the Wiki, and read some of the forum postings so I felt good about joining as a U.K. team. I could have chosen the U.S. divisions but feel that, as Canada was part of the U.K., and my son was born in Brighton, I have made the right choice. I also believe that the competitiveness might be better in the U.K., but this might not be right.

Hello. My name is Cory and I am a Peloton addict... ...and the Crazy Canucks haven't turned a peddle in anger yet. Just to reiterate about my thoughts that this is going to be a great game to play! I woke this morning thinking of rider combinations for our first two competitions; the Clasica San Sebastian, and then the Eneco Tour. Straight to the P.C., skip the kettle, and straight onto the site and here onto the forum. Here is the point of this addition to my rambling string: Would Il Padrino, or any of the people involved in the development of this game, be able to benefit in any way from a brand new player to the game?I have noticed in some of the conversations that I have read on this forum that some people were able to help Il Padrino by sharing the starting values of their teams. Then, by monitoring the team consistently over a period of time, I imagine that somehow information was used to help to improve things within the game. I would be happy to help in any way that I could! Please, just let me know if there is anything I can do.
