Before going to France for the Le Grande Boucle, there is de Tour De Suisse A 5 day tours starting with a a hell of a climbing stage today and a atypical sprint tomorrow (the finish is on flat, but only good climbers will get there). Next week we continu with two intermediate stages and a ITT.
What to expect?
MothersoI: brings Tavares, another portuguese climber. Naudts can do well in the ITT.
Carapaz: does not seem really interested in small tours. Jestin and Reuse will have to their best to get some points.
Levi: youngsters gaining experience again.
TGV: pretty much the same.
Dustin: we will see what Luce (29yr) can do. Very talented climber. Time to get some wins. Rubbers and Vriend might have plans for YC.
PollyJ: big plans. Hoydonckx for the first stage? Knol and Leers for the intermediate stages next week?
Joachim: Pretty strong team. What are the plans? Cardinal is a good climber, Stonier getting a bit old but might have an eye on a stage. Or is het there to help the Sprinter Eenman? Rieg for an intermediate stage?
ToursCC: Heidekamp has the best papers to get some points.
Devils: Amel and Pham, most likley some plans for GC?
Panteras: after yesterday we are all curious to see what 27-year old Esteves can do today. Another climbing star from Portugal. Of course Batata is there as paramount favorite for the ITT.
Naspa: bit of trouble selecting my squad. Actually Döring had to ride here, but he just suffered his first injury ever and is out for a week. So switching places with Ximenes, most likely riding for good GC. Kruydt had to sprint here, but he was the only one who could claim some succes in my disastrous giro, so Orlandoni will have to try tomorrow. VanNes for one of the intermediate stages next week.
Who will win today? My top 5: Tavares (MOI), Luce (DUS), Hoydonckx (POL), Cardinal (JOA) and Esteves (PAN)

Results (of yesterday) are pretty clear and orderly :
1.Hoydonck (POL), 2.Cardinal (JOA) and 3.Luce (DUS) went for the stage victory (and climbers jersey). 4. Taveres (MOI), 5. Ximenes (NAS) and 6. Stonier (JOA) are heading for GC podium (and points jersey). 11. Talloen (CAR), 12. Kohlhaase (MOI) and 13. Cortoom (CAR) will fight for the white jersey.
It takes a bit of tension away to have maybe the most decisive ride first day. But well, let's see how this develops and if something unexpected will appear.
For the sprint race of today. Orlandoni (NAS) looked good in race 1, he seems to have some mountain legs after all. Eenman (JOA) did do a bit less, but with good helpers things can be different. If they will able to the finish in the first group, they will decide who will win. Otherwise a surprise. Jestin (CAR) or young (mountain) sprinter Gosse Rubbers (DUS)? Maybe even one of the 85%-fitness GC-men Stonier, Ximenes, maybe Pham (DEV)?

Big fight in the riders hotel of team Naspa Achne. Helpers were not suppose to drop Orlandoni. And plan B was to have Ximenes as a sprinter. Van Nes was very selfish and did not keep himself to the orders.

I think the 0" is explainable. If you look at the race, the second group almost merged again with the first in the final sprint on the flat - I guess not so strange, group 1 did escape in the climb. Group 2: Eeman, Leers and Jestin where there. This must be the reason why Van Nes decided not to help Ximenes any longer and go for the win on his own - after bringing Ximenes back in the first flat part, he saw group 2 coming close. Van Nes has good legs for a flat finish, but not so good sprint as Eeman - so he went early without bothering about Ximenes green dreams. But then again, he was one of 3 helpers who was supposed to support Orlandoni in the first place. He just let hem on the pavement after his fall Van Nes is starting with a black eye tomorrow. Allegedly, he bumped into a door. And Orlandoni has injured his hand. Yes, same door, so was I told.

in my opinion, Ximenes, who is frustrated after the div 1 season want to win a big tour. He will certainly win Tour de Suisse but it will not be satisfying enough ...

I guess he will be back in Spain. First he has to beat Tavares. Today was a good day, but he was helped by the dual attack with Van Nes. Tomorrow he will have to do it all by himself and should not fall.

Interesting to see what will happen tomorrow. The GC-men will attack for sure. But are there any specialists left fro the stage? Leers (POL) might have the best chances?

today:
Gosse Rubbers: "I want some price money, I go full today. At the moment I am 11th in the YC, but not far from the 5th place."
Wouter Vriend: "I had expect a bit better in last stages, I go defend my 5th place."
Bastiaan Bocken: "I am only the leader, they expect only that I help others."
Flavien Luce: "I am 7th in gc, let see what I can do today."
Oktawiusz Knopek: "I was the gc man, I have disappointed, I am only 9th in gc at the moment."
