In this weeks first classic we go straight through the beautifull Flanders, where FL is important, but MO will be decisive. Rios (GIK team) might take another win and take a huge lead in the Cyclist Standings. I only see Abreu (Headcase Pro Cycling) as a real contender. Melodia (JOOP Cycling Team) for the 3rd podium spot? When typing this, Arsenal '98 hasn't put a team in yet, so he might have a contender too. For my team, Venturelli will go for top 5, but his MO isn't good enough, so he'll try to take some time in an early escape. Melodia.. maybe a 3th spot but i don't think so. He is very young and needs more skills to perform in the classics.

I told my cyclists they are supposed to win every race. Unfortunately they don't always listen to me. I do have faith in some stages. Certainly top 3-5. And 1 or perhaps 2 wins. Dwars door Vlaanderen a top 10 and a top 15. Edit: Damn top 10 and top 20Tour of Flanders: Top 3 Edit: Top 1 and top 15 YEAH!Paris-Roubaix: top 3 and top 5 Edit: Two top 10 and a top 15. Better than I thought. Hoped for top 5 but...De Brabantse Pijl: Top 10 Edit: OK Top 10 achieved. @85% effort, not bad. And top 20 with a ZERO flat young guy. He surprised me last season too with a few wins U21.Amstel Gold: Top 5 Edite: Heehaah 4th place. And so far as I know that is top 5. U21: Top 40 Edit: Yeehaah Top 10 place. (and top futher on no top 40...but top 50)

Rios is doing great this season. 8 results so far and 7 of them are wins (including jerseys). His fitness trainer helps him a lot of course, but the result is impressive. Abreu tried to repeat his Samyn-trick yesterday. But unfortunately GIK chose to put Rios in the attack. Still very happy with the season so far. My 'oldies' do what they are supposed to do: podiums. And my youngsters start ending in top 10. A solid 4th place in the division is to be happy about, because the top 3 is too strong. evild we've been in the same division now for several seasons (3 in 3:4 and now 4 in 2:1 if my counting is correct) and each of those seasons you ended higher than me in the division ranking. I hope you stay active, but I do hope as well that this season I will leave you behind

Rios surprises me a bit indeed. He knows this division from his past in Neo's team. Apart from the fact he can use fitness in tours and in single races he can go full every week, he still also wins the races he starts. I thought he would have been weaker by now (at the age of 38). Interesting Tour of Flanders today. All eyes on Strauss (Arsenal '98). But he might leave some energy for next weeks Liège-Bastogne-Liège, that suits him even more? Or will he even ride the Amstel Gold Race later this week? If Strauss doesn't go 100%, a lot of cyclists will surely try to profit from that. Grilo (Alesana), Perot (Headcase), Zoeters (JOOP Cycling Team), De Clippel (WC VroOom) and Urzica (DeRodeLantaarn) should be in front of the race. punkska has the key of the race in his hands...

Strauss indeed took a rest. He made it a "trainingstage". I even heard him whistling while he passed the finish. LBL is more his kind of stage. Bosko you are a great analist of the peloton. I too thought that Strauss would win this stage. So I gambled and went the full 100% effort With Grilo. Did not expect to win Tour of Flanders but I don't mind he did.

chakra: congrats with the nice win! Today a bit more difficult... Perdijk (GIK team) and Orye (JOOP Cycling Team) are strong. And than there's Alesana who believes he can go for top 3 and top 5. That would be a performance!

Gaspart goes for top 10. In season 22 he was already 12th at the age of 23. Last season, only 24 yo, he was 8th in World Ports Classic. So at the age of 25 it's time for a top 10 in a real monument.

I even believe I can win Paris-Roubaix! Perhaps not this season... And when all the others cyclists will race at max 75% effort and no attackings, I will be very close to a stage win. At least I'm going for top 5! I dare to challenge the Div 2:1 habituees.

I expected this to be honest, Strauss was at 95% fitness, I never believed punkska would play him at 100%. The upcoming weeks are far more important and he already proved that he can win races at 75%. So yes, I expected Grilo, Zoeters and De Clippel to be in front.
For today, no real ambitions. My flat youngster who might be able to get a good result got injured. My back up is even younger, so it will be hard for him to get even in the Top10
I'm also somewhat impressed by Rios. At his 38y, he is in his best shape ever it seems. I'm looking at the fact that most of the teams lost their oldies and continue with youngsters. Apparently a good oldie is still a better choice for winning stages. His TT and sprint are still at a high level i suppose. Comparable to Bolzonis last season. I wonder where and if the point will come were our youngsters pass him. The decreasing must be going fast now. He really is one lucky guy, many of us lost cyclists at 35-36, he is 38 now. The only emperor left in div2.1, that's why he rules us all:-)
And also this; I will not leave the game guys. It took me many years to understand this game, and now that I'm close to harvesting with my own trained youth, I will not retire. I still do think that a cyclists' career takes way too long in this game, but that's an other and old discussion :-)

It's almost like in the real world: Talent needs time to blossom. But sometimes there are gems that come early. Have you seen Bradley Leonard of tossboom? 23 yo and already 8th in Paris-Roubaix. Well done again. Gaspart did what I promised. His 1st top 10 in a monument! Super excited.

A race like this is perfect for youngsters: you can already come rather far by only training 3 skills out of 6.
