Hi guys,
Already a little early, but starting with preparations for the new calendar. We'd like to do something different every season. This season we have a WC TTT and 5 and 6 races of a grand tour in one week. Already I have had some tough times in planning to have a representative squad for every race, which was the intention of the calendar. Hope you al had that too.
Are there any ideas for the next calendar? Please keep in mind that we cannot make changes to the code, so major changes in the game are not possible.
Curious about your ideas!

Just a first idea, don't know how possible the idea is:
A tour with 3 races, spread over the entire season: 1 race in the second week 1 race between Giro and Tour 1 race in the lastweek
So you have to choose a team in the beginning of the season of riders you will keep for the entire season, and are hopefully not injured too much It's a race build on a very long term strategy, because you have to keep in mind that they are going to race that week and you will not be able to enter in other races that week or in the week before.
Who is in favor, who has remarks, shoot!

A tour with only 3 races is not much of a challenge. That's something that comes to mind emediatly. Maybe a worldcup with 20 races spread over the entire season?

Neo, At first I thought that would add something, but later I thought that if you put op a leader with a lot of LS points, you can simply put most riders on save fitness in the race they are not aiming for the victory. That means these riders can also ride in other tours that week because it will only cost them 1% in that race.
But very reative idea!

The idea of a worldcup came into my mind, but you have to work with the diference in time because if you want standings with points, you need to change the code of the game. Of course more races is possible but I wouldn't take too much races, because otherwise you take a good leader and put some riders on save fitness as Ab Normaal said. It would be nice to be able to maximise the leadership in a race/tour.

I don't know whether a time trial tour could be an option? 3 or 4 races: 1) Team Time Trial 2) Individual Time Trial mostly flat 3) Individual Time Trial mostly Mountain 4) Individual Time Trial Allround What's the opinion about this idea? Btw, I'm just searching for some little extras, I don't mind if my ideas don't make it, just trying to get this topic up and running :-)

Well, I like the idea of Neo about a 3-days Tour spread over the whole season. Still think it gives you a moment you will say: oh crap ! There are more and more managers who start using a new, young leader, so I think its not that easy to put most of your team on Save Fitness.
You can try it in Season 17. If it seems its not giving an extra dimension, you can stop that idea in Season 18.
The calendar itself, you guys did a great job. I don't think you need to change much.
Maybe playing a little with the attacking points: - there are races with late attacking points, but I didn't notice a race with only early attacking points - one or 2 Sprints before the first attacking point, so the Green Jersey has some more chance to go to a sprinter, not to an attacker (even I think this is already better then it used to be)

For the big tours I like the idea of sprints before the first attacking point. So a sprinter is more usefull then only for the sprint stages

About the mentioned ideas: * World Cup Tour: I like the idea. For example 10 races divided over the entire season (for example 3 flat, 3 hill, 3 mountain, 1 downhill). Don't know if it's possible to change the winning price of the jerseys? I don't know if this is a code change (not possible) or a database change (possible?). If possible, you can change pricemoney of Time and Mountain Jersey to 0, and price for Point Jersey for example to 500.000. In that way it works like a point system. Downsides: - If your cyclist is leading the standings after 9 races and bad luck gives him an injury in the weekendupdate before the last race, you suddenly end up with nothing, wich would be very frustrating. In real life he would just get 0 points in the last race and still end up high in the classification. If you really have bad luck, it's possible you don't have a cyclist left in the last race... - The chosen races change from single race to tour race, so the race itself is worth less (unless that's also changeable in the database?).
* Time Trial Tour: Personally, I think the timetrial skill already is one of the most important skills. I wouldn't give it even more importance by giving it its own tour.
* Only-early-attack races: I like the idea. Only attack points in first half of the race (maybe only 2 or 3 attack points?) and let the strongest survive. I think it's certainly worth trying.

Might also be interesting: First stages Tour de France: Stage 1: Short Timetrial Stage 2: Sprint stage Stage 3: Sprint stage Stage 4: 2 intermediate sprints before first attack point People will have to make choices.

Another LAP idea: start with a tough mountain, then the first attack point, and then for example a flat race.

Season 17 in numbers:
96 races: - 23 single races (7 U21); 11 small tours (3 races; 1 U21); 2 medium tours (5 races); 3 big tours (10 races) - 8 ITT (1 U21); 2 TTT, 8 Sprintraces (1 U21) - LAP (Late Attack Points: Races with more than 1 sprint before the first attack point): 14 - EAP (Early Attack Points: Races with only a few attack points, all in the beginning of the race): 1 I only found 1 suitable existing race in the current database. I'll try to create some more for the coming seasons.
Terrain numbers S17 (S16 numbers): -FL: 6318 (6403) km = 41% -HI: 3013 (2958) km = 20% -MO: 2041 (1933) km = 13% -DO: 3992 (4174) km = 26%

No, we have 10 U21 races like previous season (7 single races and 1 small tour). I understand my numbers aren't 100% clear. The first line are all the 96 races (23 + (11x3) + (2x5) + (3x10) = 96). A sprintrace for example can be a single race or a race in a tour. In case of the U21: the sprintrace is a single race, the ITT is part of the small tour.
