Hello Peloton lovers,
There is a huge range of cyclists that are short-term quite useless. I’m talking about the cyclists that are 21-30 years old. It takes so long to train 21+ year cyclists until they become competitive, that many of such cyclists get dumped when they reach the age of 21. To stimulate to train these cyclists, and to give the teams that invest in such cyclists an extra competition, I came up with an idea: an extra competition via furnaces for cyclists between 22-29 years.
My idea now is (and please feel free to comment about the idea):
During a period of 12 weeks this season 24 funraces will be arranged. These races form one big competition. There will be 8 categories (<22 (up to and including 22 years), <23, <24, <25, <26, <27, <28 and <29) and for each category there will be 3 races in one season. You can earn points in every race and the team that wins the most points in those 24 races is the winner. Rankings will be posted on the forum.
A team of organizers (names will follow when the team is complete) will set up the furnaces, update rankings, send password to teams to participate races etc.
Adjustments that can be made according to the amount of participants:
- When there are many participants (>20 teams) we can start with 2 equal divisions (for example 2.1 and 2.2) and after 6 weeks the top goes to division 1 and rest stays in division 2. So we still have one seasonal winner after 12 weeks.
- 3 races each week instead of 2.
Still to be done:
- Think of a name for the competition (any suggestions?)
- Setting up a race calendar.
- Determine the amount of points that can be earned per race.
If you are interested, please reply to this message, so I can see how many teams are interested and if it’s worth setting up this competition. You don't have to participate in every race to be able to play the competition, so if you only have a few cyclists between 22-29 years in only a few categories, then you're still more than welcome to participate.
Kind regards,
Genomico (Equipe à Grande Vitesse)
