I also don't get it. His mood is maxed out, so that's the only reason for me. He used 75% effort only :/ How many more stages will he win this Vuelta?

Lol, selected an attacker but I forgot to select attack points But again, the use of helpers is totally useless If two of them can't even keep the gap smaller than 9 minutes, I don't see what they are doing... Without helpers the gap would be 20 minutes or so? Lol. I'm not going to win this Vuelta... Already 13 minutes behind with my first cyclist and 23 with the next decent one =)

Probably Lorenzini training fitness. I'm not even going to try to win. No way to compete with fitness trainers... I'll go for stagewins

I didn't really follow the Giro because I had no GC cyclist, so I have absolutely no idea I wonder too, did he used fitnesstraining in the Tour?

There you go. We have a big favourite for this Vuelta. Lorenzini taking 11 minutes in an easy go attack. Roquiny will have to save fitness next two days while Lorenzini can go 70% Strassera didn't do quite a lot. He should have kept the pace from the peloton a little high, didn't work out at all. I think he did nothing because Roquiny was in front or so. Yep Lorenzini made a huge gap, I can't believe I didn't win final sprint after winning all intermediates and going at 100%. You still have a chance in the big mountains, but you'll have to attack. And everyone who didn't attack lost 32 minutes today. Ridiculous. My sprinter with 2 mountain skill is in the same group as 15+ climbers who didn't attack. This is just silly.

Yes, now the Vuelta certainly is over for me. This is just shitty. If you make tactics like this, there should be some mechanisms to avoid totally unrealistic situations like today. A base speed, or whatever

I don't care about GC If this is the way it goes, it's just lottery. Attacking the right day (or better, just attacking every day at 75% because helpers can't do anything) makes you win the Vuelta. Comon, 32 minutes lost in one goddamn stage? Every cyclist that didn't attack finishes in the same time... To make it worse, I didn't even win yesterday

He thinks I am a winer (and then probably you too) and that I am just saying it out of my own interest. Which isn't. I completely agree that it is a lottery and that it's just a matter of attackin the right day. I also agree with Tossboom that it is absurd that mountan 2 riders finish in the same group as mountain 15. You saw in other races that save fitness guys even escaped from the group because they were reasonable better. And for the people who say that you need to set helpers: perhaps true, but then you also need to set your GC rider as a GC rider which cost you 5% in stead of 1% every day. And that 12% loss make you loose a lot of time. Setting helpers and put your guy on save fitness also doesn't do the trick because helpers won't stick to your rider. Then you should be able to select two types of helper. One to stick to a certain other rider, and one to keep the pace up. Also I have tried to put up helpers and keep the pace high, but riders with minimum attacks always win time on all parts. Which is mathematically correct because most of the time people let the better riders attack and the lesser riders be the helper, but not very realistic. So setting helpers is never rewarding because it costs too much fitness and then you can't use them any more for the rest of a grand tour. And the result is way too little comparing to the costs. And for the people who say that all great riders are on save fitness: 1:1 is that hard, that you can only win a stage if you ride on 100% wit a rider with max. fitness. The fourth stage of this week cannot be won by a rider who rode first 3 stages on 70%.

It's ok to attack every day and try to win the GC like that. But it shouldn't be the only way. Today I used my cyclist who went 100% yesterday as helper (again 100% effort) and the 75% breakaways had very little advantage today. Magopat: You have to be ready every day, yes, but you can't use fitness everyday in real life. You certainly can't attack every day 150km or more. Maybe the fitness decrease should depend on the distance left to the finish to discourage long and unrealistic attacks

(just having a general ramble about my own team, nothing interesting, it's just been a while since I posted in here) I never do well in the big tours (failing to "set up" anything for the big penultimate stage in the Giro didn't help..) so wasn't expecting much here either, aand I haven't got much! My attack with Ragar the other day was close though, without those two falls he might've challenged for 1st so I was fairly happy, especially with one of the two ahead being Devos. He's usually impressive. Today my attacker (Gisriel) finished behind a helper and someone set to "GC" amusing. Only a 75% attack but still, failure. Never would have predicted 10 and 11th for the other two. I've miscalculated things however, should've done a proper attack with Gisriel, now too many riders with too much fitness left and I can't make a decision. Something weird is unlikely to come off, isn't it? Before this tour I'd done nicely though, 3 stages and 3 jerseys from Eneco and Portugal. Unsure what to conclude, some of my lesser riders are equal/better than other teams, but my top ones are inferior? Maybe. May still be a tactical issue in Grand Tours. Likely both. Means I'm now in a nice safe uppermidtable position anyway, definitely happy with the overall results in my first season up here, enjoyable yet competitive. Hey dudes? Nah that's weird. However, I'm gonna up/create a thread in the general bit of the forum for chat!

Today I used Strassera as a helper and it worked. Both Lorenzini and Marzialetti lost time. Unfortunately the gap is goddamn huge, but I know it can work in future. I just have to use helpers every stage to keep the difference small. Strassera, the man for the GC is the last one from all my cyclists. Because he didn't attack yet and he finished behind a save fitness cyclist Lol. Anyway, I have my 3 victories But probably no cyclists in top-5, or even top-10...

If one of my guys can stay in the top-10 I'll be happy. A 4th victory is more than I was hoping for. My team was strong in the mountains, but not in attacking daily. Forgot to set a helper once and lost 30 minutes. But I have the mountain jersey, so it's gonna be allright
