Hi. I played Peloton a while ago, but I quit (in October 2012) because I didn't had time for this game. Now I am back and from what I've seen the race engine is the only important change in the game.
Now let's get to the subject: what should I do at the start? 1. What do you think it's the best to start training (flat, hill, mountain, downhill, sprint or TT)?
2. How should my coach look? I know that now multi-skill cyclists should be better now (at least this is the problem that the new race engine was supposed to solve) so I was thinking of hiring a trainer that has 10 at the skill I train and 5 at another skill (his wage won't be too high comparing to one with 10 and 0 at the rest of the skills).
3. What cyclists should I buy from the transfer list? Back then I was usually looking for young cyclists (< 20 years) that have at least 2 at each main skill, big steering and balance + leadership (if they were going to be leaders in my team). But this type of cyclists seem very rare now. So what should I do?
P.S.: I saw that IP isn't very active on the forums. When will he come back?

Welcome back! I also quit during the third season, but I came back halfway the fifth season. The new engine was definitely something getting used to, but after two weeks you don't want to go back. It is a big (tactical) improvement and gives a lot of depth to the game. I train SP and am planning to train TT in the future. Sprint is really important at the moment, especially in flat stages. I buy cyclists with high flat, mountain (and hill) skills for low prices, so they have still chances to finish in the first group and take the win. Many new managers train on sprint. However, to become a succesfull trainer, it is inevitable to train mountain too. Most succesful trainers train on mountain in combination with sprint and/or TT...this seems to be pretty effective (but expensive). And flat is still a good skill to train, but a bit less than before. I would recommend to start with a 15 trainer on one of these skills. You can train on a different skill when your income has improved. At least, that is what I would do. Regarding the transfer list, I wouldn't recommend on buying young cyclists with high balance and steering and leadership skills. Good youngsters are quite expensive because they are still rare. They are also wanted, because of the number of U21 races we might expect next season. Just buy cyclists that have a decent age/ primary skills ratio with good secondary skills. These don't have to be more expensive than $20,000. And I don't know when IP will come back.

Thanks a lot for the answer. What do you mean by youth cyclists? Something like 24 years maximum? Most of the 12 cyclists I recieved when I registered have prety low mountain skill, but good sprint skill. I can't decide what to train between those 2. What would you chose?

I also use this topic to ask for anything in relation with the topic.
I surely didn't make a good start but I would like to progress in the game (I just started 2 days ago).
Is there a kind of tutoring or something like that? Is the wiki updated for the new game engine?
I played in the first version of the game. But I forgot the way it works exactly (but remembered a bit, Alzheimer is not so strong for the moment), and I don't get everything about new add ons (tactics, particulary). If anyone is OK to give some help to a big noob, I'll enjoy it! (there was a time on this game when I was giving this kind of help to new french users; strange to be on the opposite side by now!)

But you are a bit unlucky, because you start at the end of the season. It might be the safest option to train mountain first and for example sprint afterwards (if the MO skill has been degraded to 15), when your weekly has become high enough of course. But hey, it's your choice.

Titi put some questions and we will answer. Now the sprint is more important then in the past. In the 3 big tours TT is more important then in the past, now you could win 5 min if you have a good TT cyclist and , in my opinion, with good TT you can easily win one of the 3 big tours. Apart of TT and sprint no changes. About tactics : races are win especially by attackers not by final sprinters.

It's also important to note that some adjustements are going in place this upcoming season that none of us have raced with yet (except in fun races for testing). This adds the new tactic of "general classification", changes the way how helpers increase the speed of the peloton (with the goal of making high-skill helpers have a bigger impact on peloton speed), decreasing the importance of sprint on uphill finishes and making TT more important on long mountain sections.
We won't really know the impact fully until some races have been simmed. Right now attacking is king... but if the peloton is suddenly faster due to the change in how helpers work with it and the increase in people training TT, that might change things in favor of "final sprinters" more.

Hello, I am new here and I have two questions: - if it is a flat race, I choose a final sprinter which I want to win a race, but I also would like him to get some points for green jersey... is there some way to fight for both goals or I need to make him an attacker and set his attacks according to "green jersey places"? - when I buy a cyclist what will be his wage? thank you for answers

I've not lot of experience but I think I could help you.
1) If you want to take green jersey places and win a race you need to attack because now only who attack can win a race. Only in races "for sprinters" (the ones without attack points) a sprinter can win a race.
2) I don't know the perfect date but I think it all depend on the trasfer value: 100000 (Tv) :100= 1000 (wage) ; 1000000 (Tv):100= 10000 (wage). It's always really near these dates.

Welcome to peloton! Nice to have a new member again! - if it is a flat race, I choose a final sprinter which I want to win a race, but I also would like him to get some points for green jersey... is there some way to fight for both goals or I need to make him an attacker and set his attacks according to "green jersey places"? The final sprinter will also fight for intermediate sprints. In fact, even helpers will participate in these sprinters. However, if there are attackers in front of the peloton, they will get the points. - when I buy a cyclist what will be his wage? His wage will be determined when you contract him. You don´t know this exactly when you buy him, unless you buy a cyclist without a team. For other cyclists, the wage will change when you buy him. It will be about 1% of his transfervalue. It might be handy to read the post of Seberla of 31 october 2.43pm on this page: peloton.proboards.com/thread/8562/game-future?page=2This treats a lot of important aspects of the game and prevents you from making big mistakes. Good luck!

Hello, thank you for answers and I have another one question Could you tell me please, how much can a cyclist improve himself in one skill per a season? for example a concrete skill of a coach is 15, a cyclist is 21 years old and improvement should happen somewhere between 2-7... is there some estimation? I would like to have a correct notion about that thank you!

If you have a will to answer, I would try some more questions - could a cyclist make a successful downhill attack? it should be much harder that attacks on another types of terrain, shouldn't it? - could a cyclist with no time trial skill make a successful attack? could for example a strong mountain skill compensate that or he will take no more than two parts of that race and then goes back to peloton? thanks again

Hello, tou have got lot of questions ;D I will try to answer. 1)It all depends in the cyclist. When the skill goes 7+ there every cyclist has a Future Ability end each one has got his "time". But from 0 to 7 it usually takes 5 week, but at the start a cyclist could also have good decimals (for example 2,8). So I think a cyclist could go from 2,5 to 6. 2)Attacks on Downhill could also be succesful but It's difficult. In mouintain race difficulty you can win, I think that if there are 40 kms of mountain and 40 kms of downhill I think that you need 3 more points on Dh to reach 1 points in mountain, but there are lots of other thing... for example a cyclist who is Very happy it's too better than a cyclist who is "OK". 3) It all depends on your challenger but sure you need TT to win race. I think that a 7 mon 3 tt win againist a 10 mon 0 tt.

I would like to have a correct notion about that It depends of the skill/riders age and trainer.
Every rider has the same hability to improve till skill 7 after that they all have different FA (future hability) and after reaching skill 7 you need to control the Tv to see if the train is working.
A rider per season improve 3/4 skills between 0-7 acording to age and trainer. It a trainer with skill 15 a rider needs about 5 weeks to improve from 1.0 to 2.0 or even to 6.0 to 7.0.thank you!

If you have a will to answer, I would try some more questions - could a cyclist make a successful downhill attack? it should be much harder that attacks on another types of terrain, shouldn't it? A rider to attack needs to have sprint+skill of the terrain, so if you have a strong rider in DH and he got sprint to attack and TT to keep the pace he can escape.- could a cyclist with no time trial skill make a successful attack? could for example a strong mountain skill compensate that or he will take no more than two parts of that race and then goes back to peloton? Like I said in the last question, a rider to survive in an attack needs to have TT+terrain, of couse a strong rider in mountain can place and attack but he will not win a big gap because of the lack of TT and when the terrain change to flat, DH or hill he will be caught.thanks again
