Season 22 was generated a few days ago, so time for a new thread.
Two teams, but only 1 manager , have their debut in 1:1 this season. The teams for this season are:
Groenenhoek - Number 1 in 2:1 last season with a clear gap to the number 2. With 7 time jerseys last season he seems to focus especially on GC's. Has 9 riders between 35 and 39 who will get most of his points (besides U21 races and youngster jerseys). Will they be good enough to avoid relegation?
Neo - Number 2 in 2:1 last season, with a clear gap to the number 3. Became 11th in his previous season in 1:1 (season 20), but things have changed a bit since then. The oldies don't dominate it all anymore, so can his 7 riders between 30 and 35 get him a win? Combined with the 9 riders of 36+ and a bunch of youngsters he seems to have sufficient cyclists to compete in most races. Avoiding relegation will be the main goal I think.
Joachim1107 - Number 1 in 2:2 last season. Rode in 1:1 in season 18 (8th) and 19 (11th). Most of his older riders are now retired, sold or for sale, so the 12 riders between 30 and 37 should do it for him this season. Also here I think that avoiding relegation is the goal this season.
Arsenal '98 - Number 2 in 2:2 last season. The first season in 1:1 for his team, but we know punkska from his former team Hüsker Dü who has had a lot of seasons in 1:1. Seems to be building on his team with lots of young riders, but has a few oldies that can score some points. I doubt that it's enough for a safe top 8 spot, so my goal for you is that you don't end up inactive like in season 18
Teams in 1:1 previous season
Gonzalez - 8th last season. Not many old riders anymore, but he has the winner of last year's Tour de France (Bossuroy) and a good rider for flat and flat/hill races (Caiado). Also Gheeraert can score some points (in TT's), as well as his youngsters. In total, I think it will be hard for him to end top 8 again, but you've surprised me earlier with your 5th place in season 20.
En Danseuse - Ensured the all-dutch top 7 of last season. No wins last season, but with 17 riders of 30 and older he has a broad squad to score. Curious to see whether his younger riders have made a step and can start winning now. I think that repeating or improving last year's result is possible.
Tossboom - Started focusing on youngsters some seasons ago, but has some oldies left to grab points. With the retirements of Sironi and Bandolin there are 5 of them left, but they will decrease quite fast. Can he pull out a safe spot for one more season? At least he has a broad youngster squad that can help him for that goal.
WC Bloedzak - A nice 5th spot last season after two 7th spots the seasons before. 10 riders of 30+, but with 8 of them between 33 and 37 he has a nice core of strong riders. In addition a lot of younger riders in his team for the future, so also one to watch for youngster jerseys. No 21 year old riders, so U21 races will be done by 20 year olds. My estimation is that top 5 is possible again.
De Kasseienstoempers - 4th last season in his first season 1:1 after his squad rebuild. His riders became stronger during the season (and the oldies decreased), and he improved his win counter quite a lot in the last weeks. Many competitive riders in his team. Can he get the win this season?
De Droeftoeters - 3rd last seasons, which ended his streak of 8 division wins in a row. No Lio and Guth anymore, but some younger riders have proven to be able to take over. With Arsenault he had the youngest non-youngster stage winner of previous season, so he should fill the gap that Guth leaves. Can definitely fight for the podium, but winning the division will be difficult I guess.
BeterLaatDanNooit - Ended up 2nd last season after a tough battle for the title. Has a lot of very strong "young" riders and some oldies who will generate most of the points for him. Will he take revench for last season and take the win?
Op kop de sloot in - Had the largest highlight in my team history with the title last season. All these riders are still there, but the oldest ones will not generate a lot of points anymore (and will most probably be sold). My goal is to end up on the podium, although I hope to fight for the title again.
Good luck everyone!
