From,12 seconds behind Lacroux, to 9 seconds behind Posada... The difference in fitness and Posada on 100% and Smiling on 89% Lets battle this on out on the time trial Lacroux is always very calme on his fitness which was not the best option today... Not sure it really would have mattered with Lacroux. He's far enough behind in mountain that I think that 100% today and the lower performance in the ITT tomorrow would probably have worked out about the same as him taking it easy today and going all out in the ITT tomorrow. Lacroux just needed to have gotten some more time in the less mountainous stages earlier on. 76km of mountain and 0 flat isn't going to play to Lacroux's strengths. I am surprised he lost so much the stage before though. That took me more by surprise.

After winning the Giro, Smiling has been ordered to rest enough so he was able to win the Vuelta :-)
We did a great job guys, in 1:1 we would have been 3, 4 and 5 with Smiling, Posada and Lacroux, so we are f*cking good :-)
Perhaps next season I have to divide my good riders over all the tours and not always put my best 5 riders in the big tours, because now my final standings in the GC are great (1st, 7th, 11th and 14th) but I did not get 1 stage win, so not so many points in the division for me
We will see if we can promote next season :-)

I didn't understand the game very well when I started and chose a hill trainer when I signed up (back when trainers had only one skill). So in the old engine... my guys had no chance in the GC of any race because they weren't mountain or flat. Because of that I got into a very "stage win focused" mindset and it worked for me. But I kept buying riders with fairly high (for the time) mountain... even though I was training hill (and later sprint). And finally a few season ago I started bringing riders to compete in the GC's of races... and had a lot of success. I do wonder if I had tried it a season or two earlier I would have had better results then too. I still only bring one or two riders capable of winning the GC to a tour. The rest are all stage hunting (or there to help with a TTT or go for a youth jersey).

When i went from 2:2 to 3:1 last season I sold two of my best riders (dales and molema) and invested in my youth
Now i have some very good 22year old riders (one with a total skill of 30 already) but they are not able to compeed with the best yet, so i will have to wait some season for them to perform
But my riders are mostly allround, perhaps also not good to win stages

All-round riders have stages built for them just like any other skill set.
I think of them as "Seabra stages" (He's my most well rounded rider... no skill in double digits but solid in everything).
Liege-Bastonge-Liege, while a one-day race rather than a stage, was built for Seabra. First four attack points were hill... downhill... flat... mountain. 4 different terrains. Races like that let the cross-trained guys get a lead on the more single and double skilled guys who focus on attacking on one terrain type.
I honestly feel like there are more stages where there's a possibility to win with an all-round team. You may not always succeed, but there are few stages I feel like I have no shot. They essentially have to be VERY mountain or VERY flat for me to feel like there's no way to win.

Yes, Kurtinsc is right, there are many stages for all-round riders you just need to chose the right ones for the skills of your riders. You need to check if the attacking points are good for your rider to attack because that makes a big difference.

All rounders definetely pay off, they can make much more points on the season than mono or bi-skilled cyclists, and are much stronger in tours for GC

Congratz zapardiel and warner bros, you two were outstanding in our division
I knew that 10 points lead for third place would not be enough in a TT vs mothers of invention
Pegasus, great final race, good to see you again next season
Curious to see who comes to our division
My season i can put in ups and downs: - winning the giro and the vuelta - winning a lot of youngster yerseys in the smaller tours - only 6 victories in stages - too much top 10 places in stead of podium places or wins

It will be interesting to see how my team fairs in division 2.
I know my team likely can't compete for promotion... but I wonder if my guys are skilled properly to take points in the hilly races and keep from demotion. It took me several seasons (5 I think) to promote from division 3 to 2.... but I didn't ever demote either.
It appears there's a pretty big adjustment to go up to division 2. We'll see if my team can cut it.
