Rui Costa is because you are Portuguese. Fantastic rider, but he has never performed in a three week race. Why do you think he will perform now for three weeks?
Tour is not Switzerland!

Ok ok I'm Portuguese and of course that influence my choices I agree that is a risky bet, but if you look at last year's edition, he did well (top 20 if I remember correctly) to have to stay behind to help Valverde, and although after failing to recover in general, he bet on winning stages and won two stages in the third week of the race. This year he is the leader of the team, although the team is not very good when compared with Sky, Tinkof, etc.. I think this year, and given their current run of form, I believe that the world champion can get to the podium. www.letour.fr/le-tour/2013/us/stage-16.htmlwww.letour.fr/le-tour/2013/us/stage-19.html

Yes, but he also finshed 20th because they let him go in the stages that he won. And he won time there. If he would be a serious contender, they wouldn't let him ride.

I think Contador will win but it also depends on "pericoulos" stage when cyclists can fall. For me Rodriguez didn't win the Giro only because he falled, I think if Rodriguez doesn't fall he could win I don't know what Valverde could do because he doesn't run in the lasts small tours. For me: 1st Contador 2nd Valverde/Nibali 3rd Valverde/Nibali 4th Rui Costa 5th Mollema/Talansky/Van Garderen/Trofimov

The 2 main contenders are Contador and Froome with advantage for Contador this season.
I don't believe that Rodrigues will ride the TdF.
For me the top 5 will be:
1º Contador 2º Froome 3º Valverde 4º Rui Costa 5º Michal Kwiatkowski
Nibali will leave and prepare the Vuelta

Excuse me, I don't know lots of English so I used the future instead of The past, for me, without falling Rodriguez would have won The Giro. But I think he couldn't run Tour de France

Or just because you want him to be there? Why is he better than Talansky, VandenBroeck, Mollema or TeJay? Purito will ride (he is already confirmed), but only for stage hunting and preparing for the Vuelta.

But if I'm not mistaken any of them this year in direct confrontation beat Rui Costa. We do not want to be Rui Costa in third or fourth, the Portuguese want it to be first But being realistic we must agree that it is very difficult, but this year I think at least top 5 is perfectly possible.

I know he beat them all. He is certaininly a better rider in one day races and tour of a week. I am just searching for a reason why he will also be good in a three weeks tour (and then I pick him in my tour games). For the Italian readers: How is Damiano Caruso doing at the moment?

Two days ago there was Italian national race, Nibali won and now he is Italian champion. Caruso is good... but he can do nothing. His team isn't very good in mountains and he can't compete with Contador, Froome and other In the final climb Nibali and Scarponi did very well and Nibali could win also for Scarponi... they were fantastic!!! The incredible thing is that only a rider could go with Nibali until the arrive: Davide Formolo. He is from Cannondale so the same team of Caruso, I don't know if at only 22yrs he will do the TDF but I think he could do fantastic things and help Caruso in mountains stages. This is the final ranking: 1 Vincenzo Nibali - AST 2 Davide Formolo - CAN s.t. 3 Matteo Rabottini - NRI 06'' 4 Giovanni Visconti - MOV 07'' 5 Damiano Caruso - CAN 12'' 6 Daniel Oss - BMC 12'' 7 Domenico Pozzovivo - ALM 23'' 8 Salvatore Puccio - SKY 25'' 9 Mauro Finetto - NRI 29'' 10 Ivan Santaromita - OGE 41'' Caruso takes 12" from Nibali in the last 3 Kms, pendence 7% How much from Contador yet in the second stages? (pendences 20%)

WE know Rui Costa very well, he is a great professional and when he set is objectives he works to get them, so Rui Costa will fight for a top 5 in the Tour. His bigger problem is that Lampre is a weak team for him, he doesn't have helpers good enough like Froome, Contador or Nibali so he will have to play solo and that is a big handicap. VandenBroeck is a very strong candidate too for the top 5. Mollema I don't belive or TeJay because they don't seem to have mental strength in the decisive moments. About Rodrigues if he is confirmed will be very good for the race because he will have no pressure so he will play with the others if he is back on form. Watching the Italian results I have to put back Nibali in the fight for the top 3 because he did very well. I was amazed about Valverde winning the national TT

I was amazed about Valverde winning the national TT Yes, he Was good but there weren't lots of other top cyclists... Pozzovivo wasn't The same of The Giro Rabottini Was third... There wasn't Ulissi... If you want watch that, maybe you could understand What I'm saying m.youtube.com/watch?v=qQe92zg3X54In The TT Nibali Was in The start list but he isn't in The top 10, I don't know

Nibali did not start in the National ITT championship. Formolo is set to ride the Vuelta, I believe.
In my opinion, Froome and Contador will fight for the victory, Valverde and Nibali for third place, and then Rui Costa, Talansky, VandenBroeck , Mollema and Bardet for 5th place. I don't believe that Kwiatkowski and Pinot are in great shape.

I'm playing a fantasy cycling game and I have to choose my team for The TDF... It's very hard!!! I have this roster: 1 ALBERTO CONTADOR Tinkoff-Saxo 2 MARCEL KITTEL Team Giant - Shimano 3 SEP VANMARCKE Belkin Pro Cycling Team 4 JAKOB FUGLSANG Astana Pro Team 5 THOMAS VOECKLER Team Europcar 6 TOM DUMOULIN Team Giant - Shimano 7 TEJAY VAN GARDEREN BMC Racing Team 8 DAMIANO CUNEGO Lampre - Merida 9 THOMAS DE GENDT Omega Pharma - Quick Step 10 MICHAEL ALBASINI Orica GreenEDGE 11 ADRIANO MALORI Movistar Team 12 JULIAN DAVID ARREDONDO Trek Factory Racing 13 GORKA IZAGIRRE INSAUSTI Movistar Team 14 SIMON GESCHKE Team Giant - Shimano 15 ALESSANDRO DE MARCHI Cannondale Pro Cycling Team 16 ALESSANDRO PETACCHI Omega Pharma - Quick Step 17 YUKIYA ARASHIRO Team Europcar 18 GIANLUCA BRAMBILLA Omega Pharma - Quick Step 19 YURY TROFIMOV Team Katusha 20 MACIEJ BODNAR Cannondale Pro Cycling Team 21 MATTEO BONO Lampre - Merida 22 DAVIDE APPOLLONIO AG2R La Mondiale 23 SéBASTIEN CHAVANEL Equipe Cycliste FDJ.fr Naturally not all partecipate. A good team could be Contador-Kittel-Albasini-Van Garderen-Trofimov-Domoulin-Voeckler-De Marchi Fulsang could do well but I'll take points only for winning races and final ranking, not for helping Nibali
