Hello everybody! I am a re-starter now, and I am looking for a thread or topic, which look through the "new" race engine a little bit more detailed. Do you have any advice which topic or sites should I check? I'm not sure where any great topics are talking about the new engine are, but I can give you a brief run through... but note that currently in the fun races there are modifications being tested that may makes some of this less true in the future. 1. Sprint is important right now. It determines if you can break away when placing an attack, and is double the factor of the terrain skill (mountain/hill/flat/downhill) when determining who wins sprints (including at the finish). I understand that the changes in fun races make sprint less important in hill finishes and almost completely unimportant in mountain finishes, but I haven't tried them out. Still... when it comes to flat stages, you can't win much with a pure flat trained guy. Sprint matters. 2. TT is more important as well. It determines the speed of your rider once you successfully attack... so while you need sprint to get away, you need TT to stay away. Also, in many divisions TT's (and especially team TT's) can have a huge impact in the overall results... more then in the original engine it seems. 3. Leadership - In addition to the small bonuse it always gave, it now controls how many tactics points you have to spend. In the tactics: Final sprinter - gets the rider a boost in the final sprint. Other riders will all sprint as well, but this tactics makes them do better in the final sprint then they otherwise would. 2 points. Helper - Tries to help others who fall/flat or are in danger of losing contact to keep up with the peloton. It apparently doesn't work right with downhill falls for some reason. Also will relay at the front to pull back breaks if their team has nobody in the break. 1 point. Attacker - Minimum effort - 75%. You select an attack point to lauch an attack. It costs 2 points per attack point. It seems that multiple unsuccessful attacks can cause mood to drop, so make sure you have enough sprint and terrain skill to get away Save Fitness - Ride with 60% effort, but only lose 1 fitness point. While it may not have been intended this way, picking key stages to rest your GC guy in grand tours has become a critical part of placing well in those races. Saving those 4 fitness points on a few stages early on can have a huge impact on how your rider does later in the race. Also good for a rider targeting a late stage. Costs 4 points to use Blank - choosing nothing is a tactic in itself. The rider is in essence protected... helpers will work to keep him with the main group. He'll still try for the final sprint, just with no bonus. 0 points. Other changes: Training... you can now start with a trainer at 15 at any skill, and train riders for multiple skills at the same time. Division structure - there's a thread in the main forum that talks about the changes to division structuring in season 6. U21 races - We've only had one so far, but there are in fact races now where riders have to be 20 or younger to enter. That's the basics.

Many thanks Kurtinsc for this very interesting explanation By the way, do you know something about the influence of weight (it is obvious that this is a key point) but also height of riders ?

Weight is important, but I'm not 100% sure how to quantify it.
I can tell you that my best climber is only at rank 7 in mountain, but weight 51kg. He easily outclimbs my guy who is at rank 10 in mountain and 82kg.
Now I assume heavier weights help in downhills and perhaps in the flats, and I've heard height makes a difference in some manner... but I have trouble telling how much of an impact it has. High/low weight on mountains is pretty obvious though.

The higher a cyclist is, the better he will be able to use his flat, sprint and downhill skill if I'm right. The same goes for a lower weight which is better for hill and mountain. But even with huge differences in weight, your 10-mountain always should be better than your 7-mountain. (You assume 82kg-51kg=31kg gives at least a bonus of 43%. So if we look at at the difference between 100kg and 50kg that would give a bonus of almost 70% which is way too big! If I remember correct the maximum bonus that you could get was about 10% in the old engine, so don't think that much has changed...)
