Well, I got the stage 1 win... and now the question moves to: "How big a lead will Staquet have in the GC after the team time trial?" and "Will Forza Racing hold all top 5 places after the TTT?"
I think the answers will be "considerable" and "yes" based on the Giro. While my TT guys are a little better, they aren't all that much better. I only have 1 above 3 on TT (on my team and in this race). It's a deficiency for my squad.
But... I do think Goorts can do well in this race. He finished first among non-Forza riders in the Giro and got some time today at little cost. With virtually every stage having a potential impact though, it could be a wild tour.

Well, you really do have better TT's.
As you can see... I have nothing in the TT. Even my "good" TT riders are only at rank 3 and I don't have many of them.
You and Forza get to fight for the GC now... I'm in stage hunting mode after today.

Well, with the restructuring being announced now, here's where the teams in 3:3 will fall once teams are re-seeded after the season ends and the number of teams and divisions at each level or changed (based on current international standings):
EBHFriends, Bosch-Shimano and Warner Bros - Division 3 (though at 75th, I'm a bit close to the cutoff of 84th)
Kleinbikes, Ngogo, Forza and Scorpion - Division 4 (At 180, Scorpion is RIGHT on the line... 85-180 are in division 4)
Everyone else goes to division 5.

What's the point when you only have one rider within 7 minutes? I guess the shoe's on Forza's foot now though.

Frustrating stage.
Goorts got away and won all the mountain sprints... but then fell on the final climb and finished 11 seconds back. Feel like I missed out on a win there.

Today made up for yesterday. I figured it would be a matchup between me and B-S as we seem to have the strongest hill riders. Thankfully, B-S didn't run Coones at 100% like I did with Rumler... so I got the win.
Other then the disastrous TTT, I'm having a good Vuelta so far. 2 stage wins (one where my GC guy took 1:30 on the Peloton) and a 4th place (where my GC took another 1:30 on the peloton). If not for that huge 6:00 loss in the TTT, the race would be a huge positive so far.

The ITT wasn't that bad for my team, still 3,5 and 6 in the GC. And the two timetrialists ended 1 and 2 in the stage. What's more, I still have a 15% fitness gap, so maybe I can even move up in the GC in the final week ...

Hmm, Paduart and your Goorts must have a huge mountain skill, even with a 75% attack they take more than 2'. Even with 3 riders as helper (all 20% more fitness then Paduart) they can't take him back, another frustrating stage ..

I can't speak to Paduart, but Goorts is not all that great in the mountains (just a 7). What he has is a very low weight (51kg), and a good hill score, which allows him to get away easier since the peloton is rarely as strong in hill as it is in mountain. He also was set to attack/improve the pace four times on the state... and I find that helps keep low effort attacks away. Plus, four different teams were in front today. It was just you and possibly Ngogo pulling. Forza had been very aggressive in this race and it's worked for him. I'm betting that if the TTT were late rather then early, he'd be riding more conservative thinking he'd win big with that like he did in the Giro and you and he would be controlling the breaks together more.

And there was my big play.
Didn't get me up into first (thanks to Paduart attacking with Goorts yesterday so I didn't get any time on him), but put him into second with one stage to go. I have no idea how well Goorts can hang on tomorrow, but given my team I don't think I could have done anything more then I have... unlike the Tour where I think I made mistakes on choosing when to attack and what rider to use.
Also fun on today's stage to see one of my ex-riders finish second. I'm glad I didn't get into a sprint with Rose, I'm sure he would have won.

And I managed to hang on to second. Can't help but be pleased with that and my GT's this year as a whole. Would have been great to win one, but ended up 4th in the Giro, 2nd in the Tour and 2nd in the Vuelta. Not too shabby.

Well, we're about to start the final week of the season.
A flat/hilly 1-day ending on the flat. A 3-day tour that's nearly all mountain/hill (but the stages end in flat/mountain/hill respectively) And the final race, a hilly/mountain/flat hybrid that ends in a climb.
EBH has locked up first place... nobody can catch him at this point.
B-S is pretty strong for second, though at 233 back it's still POSSIBLE I could catch him. Not likely.
Kleinbikes has 4th locked up.
5th is in contention... Forza has a 57 point lead over Ngogo which is doable.
7th is locked up for Scorpion.
8th is pretty safe for Sanjp
De Kasseistampers have a 101 point lead over Gilbert... that's pretty safe but if Gilbert can win a race and have a couple other solid results, it's not insurmountable.
Bicisintra and Rifiuti can move up with very small number of points. The others have no managers, and they're only 10 and 23 from moving up a spot respectively.
Good luck to the finish everyone.

Thnx, The final week had a good start for you, and with the absence of B-S place 2 is there to get for you. Batistoni was just a little bit better today, on the flat strokes I could come back seconds by seconds, but one hill stroke made the gap always grow back to more then a minute. Still i'm happy with today's result, 2 riders on the podium and all 5 in the top-10. But for next season I should try to find a 7-hiller. Hillstages have cost me a lot of points this year...
