Both GL and Leopard signed up with riders that had some very good results. Will be a hard battle against the sprinters of GL for me on the flat stages and even though Leopard is still without a trainer they have some very good climbers. Interesting and happy that we're starting today!

\New green jersy for Ulrich in TDF? ;-) Like i hoped Barbez is going to be a hard competitor for Ulrich for the green jersey. Also happily surprised i could beat the sprinters from GL. triplef: The 95% which Sintes started with could have costed him 1 minute.

Hmm, very surprised that riding at 95M% would cost me so much... Oh well, we'll concentrate on the polka dot jersey!
And Sintes wasn't the only one to be trapped, as Gonon, De la blancherie who are also good riders were also left behind.
I'm also very happy with the signups of GL and Leopard. It will make things more interesting, both results wise and financially!

At least you had 4 of your guys in the first group! The other mountaintrainers (Thorax, kanikoerski en Wisgoths) only 1, so all in all i think you've done not such a bad deal today for the GC.
Tomorrow with the mountainfinish probably at least 3 of my guys will drop, but for sunday and monday i see some chances again.
It's going to be an interesting Tour for sure and my guess is that the timedifferences in the mountains will be bigger then they were in the Giro.

Hmm, obviously not a very good beginning for Sintes, as he drops another 5 minutes!!! due to a fall and flat. If the new engine was already going, he would instantly become a helper as he has already basically lost all chances of winning the Tour.
My young guys become my leaders, but they are nowhere near as good, so this doesn't like a good Tour coming up for me.
Oh well, can't win them all!
Regarding the race in general, I am once again surprised that only 15 riders made the top group. It seems as the first 8 weeks of training are already paying off, and the gap between riders is increasing. That is very good, in my opinion.

You still got 2 man in the front, so nothing lost i would say. Today was a disaster with none of my riders in the front group. Hoped for 1 or 2, but as you say it's obsvious that training is paying off....yesterday in my advantage, today definitely not. At least Barbez won 2 intermediate sprints and although Ulrich is coming it's definitely a goal to win the green jersey. Curious about tomorrow....i think (hope ) i might have an outsiders chance. Thorax and kanikoerski allready both lost a rider this early in the Tour....ouch.

cmon how is this possible, one of my best riders, he has 8 on steering and 15! on balance 12/3/2011 INJ Injured for 1 weeks. 10/24/2011 INJ Injured for 2 weeks. 10/2/2011 TRA Started his career at Thorax. 10/2/2011 INJ Injured for 3 weeks. This must be a bug??? Should I report this? Very bad start for me with a lots of flat tires. Ulrich missed lots op point because of his flat tire the first race. Seems its gonna be a difficult TDF for me.

I'm not sure if it is a bug, you can allways report it, but no matter how good he is if he gets injured that often i would sell him when he's popped and buy another good rider. You're in the yeloow jersey btw, so things are not that bad yet.

Seems its gonna be a difficult TDF for me. Every cyclist has a hidden injury proneness, and this guy looks like a 20. Best thing is to let him heal and sell him. If you think he is close to popping, hold him till he pops, then sell him, but of course he could get injured in training again....if you keep him, he'll just go on breaking your heart.

Second stagewin! After winning a stage in the Giro Knegt does it in the Tour again ....too bad he has hardly any mountainskills, his height and length would be perfect. The bad news is that Ulrich is getting very close in the battle for green and tomorrow Barbez won't get any points with the intermediate sprints close after some hills.

Another favourite falls.....it's going to be an open Tour!
From a tactical point of view i decided to let Knegt do the intermediate sprints today and although that means Barbez is out of the green jersey i'm pretty sure Ulrich would have had more points if Barbez sprinted on this terrain.
Second stagewin for Knegt.....he should be trained by a mountaintrainer and he could win big Tours.
Gouden Leeuwen is using extra effort every day....that must blow back in his face one day....definitely in the TT's. Knegt his hill is so good that he could leave all 4 of the GL guys behind him.

Very disapointed that Ulrich felt today . I started to think he could even win the TDF because other favorits lost already some time. Lots of bad luck for me in the tdf, flat tires en falls from cyclist with high secundaries, damn it! There is only one objective left and that is the green jersy but Ulrichs fall and flat tire the first race costed me already lots of points.

I was indeed suprised at GL's results until I looked at his fitness. And then I smiled like a cat waiting for a trapped mouse...
