First post ever, so this may get ugly.
I'm loving this. It's my third day in the Peloton, and we are having a blast at USA Div 2:3.
Since it's Day 3 for me, I did a search above and did not get any hits on tour rest days. So - if this is old business, please feel free to kill this post. Just another noob....
It looks like the Giro and Vuelta get some down days, so maybe you've always intended for the Tour to be the hardest test. Rightly so.
The Peloton TdeFr is 11 days long, with no breaks, putting a premium on fitness and preserving it, like the real GC contenders do each year. But the two rest days introduce an extra bit of strategy for the power riders who like to attack, and for the GC guys to decide how much to put into that Sunday TT, knowing Monday they can recover a bit.
One rest day in the midst of the Tour would add this element.
Thanks for listening!

I appreciate everyone refraining from pointing out to this guy that maybe he should do a little reading next time before he posts - everyone should know fitness is updated Sundays.
{ I'll try and do better next time }
And now I'll get back to doing what I do best - overpay for underperforming riders! ((....oooooh loook - another Belgian... and he's cheap!))
