In Peloton 1.0
the race engine would add Botteams if fewer that 10 active managers signed up for a race.
The Botteams would race the same 5 riders into exhaustion, and always at 70%.
Botteams very seldom scored any points with this tactic.
How about a simple set of tactical rules for Botteams to make them a bit more competitive (assuming we want that!) and interesting.
1) If the first Botteam examined does not have 5 100% fit riders, try to assign another Botteam with 5 fit riders.
2) If no Botteams with 5 100% fit riders is available in the division, assign one and enter their 5 most fit riders.
3) Set Botteams to always race one rider at 75% instead of 70% (as if they were trying to get into the break)
Not too many rules, but just enough to make Botteams a bit more dangerous, so they are not just entered to boost the race $$$.
Maybe something to think about for Season 2 or 3?
Also, you could make them more dangerous by changing rule 3) to:
3a) Set Botteams to randomly race one rider at 75%, 85% or 95% in each stage....something like:
- 20% random rider (RR) races at 70% (so not all the time)
- 50% RR races at 75% (just enough to get a few points)
- 20% RR races at 85% (bigger chance to score points)
- 10% RR races at 95% (could definitely score points)
