Goodbye! (for now) (4/25/2010) With the continuous server problems of lately and the impact this has on the game, we have decided to bring Peloton to a full stop after the current season. With the problems of failing updates and races, frequent server outages, etc, we feel that there is no point in continuing the game as it is.
Peloton will be closed at the end of the month. Will it be forever? Who knows... but probably not. We will continue working on the game, its new race engine, new features and so on. There will be no deadline, we want to work on this game under no pressure. When we feel the time is right, we will find a new and better hosting and give it another shot. The current website will be replaced with a static page. From time to time it will be updated with the status of the developments. The forum will continue to exist as this is hosted on a separate, third party server.
Players who bought Premium in the past 3 months will be fully reimbursed before the end of the month.
We would like to thank everyone for their support over these past 4 years. We hope you had as much fun playing this game as we had developing it!
Tour de Pologne (4/7/2010) The start of the Tour de Pologne didn't exactly go according to plan. The switch between the first and second race proved to be problematic in the processing of the bot teams and cyclists, resulting in an incorrect overall result.
So we had to use the backup again, this time to resimulate the races in their proper order. The race of today was moved to tomorrow, along with the rest of this week's calendar. Keep in mind, the race of this Sunday is moved to Monday, so adjust your tactics accordingly with regards to fitness.
The funraces of tonight have been postponed. These will be simulated later this evening, at around 23:00 GMT.
We are fully aware of the current state of decay of the game. We are considering options on how we want to continue (or not), and what we want to do with this game. It is obvious that we can't let this game running the way it is currently going. We will make an announcement soon. Our apologies for all these problems lately. Race of Monday tonight (4/6/2010) The race of yesterday wasn't simulated. It will be moved to tonight at 20:00 GMT.
Game reset to Sunday evening (3/31/2010) Sunday update ended up with a database error, which prevented many teams being updated properly. Because of this, we had to use a back up of the database from before the update to restore the game.
The update has now run properly and the calendar from Monday has been moved up a week. All transfers since Sunday evening have been reset as well, so their deadlines have been extended with 4 days (to Thursday). Premium accounts were extended with a week as well as compensation.
This will give us the time to figure out how to fix the issue, and also about the future of the game and what we want to do about all this. More on this to come!
Calendar (3/25/2010) The race of last Friday, the final race in the Eneco Tour, was missed because of the downtime then. When this race was moved to next Friday, there were many complaints because it would affect cyclists' fitness in the Tour de Pologne. Naturally, a change to the calendar will always requires at least some change in tactics, but in this case, it was unforseen and an emergency solution.
However, in order to make the effect of the moved race to Friday, the first race of the Tour de Pologne has been moved to Monday. So after the weekly update, when cyclists will have recovered fitness. Hopefully this satisfies everyone now.
